Say hello to your scanning friend, ED. The Plug-n-Scan 1200 ED is a complete 48-bit color scanning system, which includes the tools needed to scan photographs, logos, illustrations, and text. The 1200 ED combines ultra-high resolution capabilities with slim styling and powerful image editing and OCR software.
The Plug-n-Scan 1200 ED features some of the highest software enhanced resolution ever seen. It has an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi with a maximum software enhanced resolution of 19,200 dpi! The ED's color depth enhancement captures a 30-bit color image, enhances it to a brilliant 48-bit palette with over 281 trillion colors!* * Most monitors and graphic adapters display up to 24-bit color. 48-bit color can only be used with imaging programs capable of input above 24-bit color, such as Photo Express SE. The Plug-n-Scan 1200 ED is a TWAIN compliant scanner who gets along with his imaging friends. Through TWAIN, ED can scan directly into many supported applications. Parallel Port Installation The Plug-n-Scan 1200 ED plugs directly into the printer port on the back of your PC. Even more convenient, your printer then plugs into the back of the scanner. Users of Windows 98 need only to follow simple instructions to get ED up and scanning in a matter of minutes. |

| Compact Design ED is a svelte fellow. At only 18.5" (L) x 12.1" (W) x 3.8" (H), ED fits in comfortably on any desktop or computer table. Easy To Use Simply click the Direct Scan program icon in the Windows 95/98 System Tray to launch ED's Direct Scan interface. Choose the destination for your scanned document from Photo Express SE, TextBridge Pro, Fax, Print or e-mail. Press the scan button and ED will scan your image or document and help move it along to the selected location. Users who desire more control over ED's settings can disable the Direct Scan Program and use the Plug-n-Scan 1200 ED TWAIN driver instead. With the easy-to-use interface of Ulead's Photo Express SE, you can quickly turn your scanned images into greeting cards, announcements and invitations. You can incorporate your favorite images into calendars and brochures or you can just stick to the basics and use Photo Express SE's retouching tools to make all of your pictures look their best. With its "Instant Access OCR" feature, Xerox TextBridge OCR software allows documents to be scanned for editing directly with your word processing software. TextBridge is powerful and easy to use, capable of recognizing many different fonts at various sizes, quickly and accurately converting scanned documents into editable formats.
The included image editing software allows ED to save in JPEG and GIF file formats commonly used for Internet graphics. The GIF file format allows transparent areas and interlaced downloading.
